Designed and built by Suncoast Team Services, LLC, the sales, service and retail store is owned and operated by Steve and Jewel Lamb of Crystal River. This unique dealership has been named by Harley-Davidson as one of only three destination locations in Florida.
Ardath Prendergast, Manager of Operations and Communications at the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce said, “The building is one of the most beautiful in the county. It raises the bar for what our county can do. Crystal Harley-Davidson has made Citrus County a very popular destination.”
Since it opened in August, bikers and non-bikers alike have been making the trip to this central Florida coastal community to check out this iconic structure, specifically designed to reflect the area’s rich history and resources.
Tom Strickland, president at Suncoast said, “We wanted to build something that reflected the natural beauty surrounding the location.”
Exposed timber beams, limestone walls and non-tinted plate-glass windows pay homage to the lush woodlands, mining past and clear waters that define the Crystal River region. Burnished concrete floors and ample leather seating are in complete harmony with the area’s rustic character. Not to be omitted, there are dramatic photo-murals of the manatees of Crystal River on display to remind visitors this location is unlike any other Harley-Davidson in Florida.
The Lambs and Harley-Davidson corporate offices gave Strickland and his team great latitude to get creative with the project.
“Normally, dealerships have very strict guidelines for design with controls on color and form.” “This time,” Strickland said, “we were able to create and build something that is one-of-a-kind for Harley and the Lambs.”
Just last month the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce awarded Crystal Harley-Davidson with their Chamber Ambassador’s New Image Award for the store’s impressive design.
“We have worked with Suncoast on several projects in the past,” said Jewel. “They are number 1 in their game. Their knowledge and experience cannot be surpassed. They always stay on top of their game with the latest and greatest.”
Homosassa’s reputation for hospitality is reflected in the facility as well. The small town is one of Florida’s most unique tourist destinations. It is a place that has maintained a slow-pace, you’re in the country now feel, despite attracting thousands of tourists to its pristine waters every year.
Crystal River Harley-Davidson’s design embraces that hospitality via a large showroom with two expansive wings that reach toward the road and beckon visitors to pull into the lot. The large drive-up portico provides plenty of space for bikers to park and stroll right into the store, or stop under the Harley sign to take a selfie with their bike. There is also a 3,700 square foot covered outdoor patio where hundreds of riders and non-riders can congregate on weekends for drinks, food trucks and live music.
With room for almost 100 bikes in their showroom, the dealership carries a complete range of Harley models. At the back of the property is one of the more unique features to any Harley-Davidson store; a 26,000 square foot motorcycle practice track where customers can sign up for training and learn to ride.
Topping off the Harley experience is the store’s expansive retail area where Harley enthusiasts will find a wide range of merchandise that sports the logo of this all-American brand.
Jewel Lamb stated that, “Fifty-two percent (52%) of all the merchandise sold is purchased by individuals that do not own a motorcycle!” It’s the Harley-Davidson culture. It’s all about the brand.”
